Ethiopia Hopes to Secure $3.7Bn from Exports This Year

The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Industry said it plans to earn $3.7 billion from export this Ethiopian fiscal year, which ends in July.

The Ministry made the announcement at an event organized for quarterly export performance evaluation.

Of the $3.7 billion, agricultural commodities are expected to contribute around $2 billion, while revenue targets of $779 million and $261 million are set to be obtained from manufacturing and mining, respectively.

The Ministry related first-quarter exports amounted to a total of $723 million.

Following reforms it undertook, the Ministry disclosed, it has drafted a ten-year master plan that aims to address bottlenecks in the sector, which it hopes helps attain the target set for the year.
