EU Gives €15 Mn Support to Ethiopia's Coffee Sector

The European Union (EU) hands a support of €15 million to enhance the competitiveness of Ethiopia's coffee sector.

Sani Redi, Ethiopia's State Minister of Agriculture, in a press statement said EU’s funding "would contribute a lot in improving coffee productivity through addressing the challenges facing the sector."

This, he noted, will help 28 coffee growing districts export value added to the global market.

Ethiopia is expected to export a record-high 240,000 metric tons of coffee in 2019/20, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture attache in Addis Ababa.
