Ethiopia to Build Four More Industrial Parks

Ethiopia is set to build four more industrial parks in the recently commenced fiscal year, the Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) made known. IPDC made the announcement after reviewing last year’s performance of industrial parks in Ethiopia with scholars and stakeholders.

According to the Corporation, industrial parks in Ethiopia exported products worth $110 million in the last fiscal year alone, a figure up by 35 percent from the previous year. While doing so, the industrial parks have created employment for some 50,000 people.

This figure, regardless of the increase, still falls short of the target set, IPDC related. The Corporation attributed this to the instability exhibited in some parts of the country.

In the fiscal year that ended on July 7, three industrial parks have been inaugurated and gone operational.
