2Merkato's owner company, Ebiz Online Solutions PLC, has been recognized as a loyal taxpayer in the silver category. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed bestowed the award on Ebiz and other selected loyal tax payers, presented by the Ministry of Revenues, at a dinner ceremony held at the National Palace on Saturday night. Ebiz Online Solutions' 2Merkato.com is the biggest business portal in Ethiopia, dedicated to providing integrated information on Ethiopian business, containing virtually every important information a businessperson or a potential investor needs while doing business in Ethiopia or trading with businesses located in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues gave the recognition for some 160 loyal taxpayers in three categories: platinum, gold, and silver, which have to do with the amount of taxes the businesses pay. Around 400 taxpayers and senior government officials have been present at the event.

After handing over the awards, the Prime Minister stressed the need to develop the culture of paying taxes. He further assured the taxpayers of the government’s commitment to using the collected tax revenue properly and efficiently.

It is to be recalled that the Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues collected over $6.7 billion in the fiscal year that ended on July 7, 2019.
