president-with-us-chamber-delegationEthiopian President Sahlework Zewdie held talks with a delegation of the US Chamber of Commerce on ways of engaging the private sectors in various investment areas in Ethiopia.

Following the discussion, Myron Brilliant, Executive Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce and Head of International Affairs said several priority areas for US companies, including health care, information technology, education and many others have been raised. The US Chamber is the largest business group not only in the US but also in the world, he noted.

Commending the Ethiopian government efforts to realize the ongoing reform in many important areas, Brilliant said the US private sector is looking for something way more than short-term commitment. “We have strong voice of the American business,” Brilliant further stressed.

“We are very excited by the messages we heard from the president, and we are looking forward to a next step here,” the head of the delegation said.

President Sahlework on her part encouraged the delegation and the US companies in general to invest in Ethiopia, and said this is crucial in further strengthening ties between Ethiopia and the US.

With over 3 million members, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the largest business group in the world.
