The 2019 World Export Development Forum to be Held in Ethiopia

Ethiopia will host the 2019 World Export Development Forum (WEDF), which will be held18-22 November in Addis Ababa.

The International Trade Center (ITC) and the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Industry have joined hands in hosting the forum, to be held at the African Union headquarters.

Furthermore, it was stated that this year, WEDF will give much emphasis for women and youth through a “SheTrades” Global event and a new platform for youth entrepreneurship and self-employment dubbed “YES!” Forum.

The 2019 WEDF, which coincides with the Africa Industrialization Week, will be attended by 1000-plus business leaders, policymakers and trade development officials. Via doing so, the forum aims to address international business competitiveness issues and profile international investment in Ethiopia and beyond. Sessions will also be held to help businesses understand the essence of the newly-ratified African Continental Free Trade Agreement.

During the forum, a range of topics including investing in value addition, addressing the skills mismatch, sustainable packaging and more, will be raised and discussed. Furthermore, a business-to-business matchmaking platform is said to offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to forge new business deals in agribusiness, ITC stated.
