Ethiopian Electric Power Starts Constructing 38-Story HQ Building

eep-new-hqEthiopian Electric Power (EEP) has started the construction of a new headquarter building that will have 38 stories, including the basement floors. The new building will be constructed at a site around Mexico Square that is already in the premises of the company’s compound.

CGCOC Ethiopia, a division of the CGCOC (CGC Overseas Construction) Group, will be in charge of the construction. CGCOC ranks among the 100 largest contractors in the world. MH Engineering will be consulting on the project.

Present at the launching ceremony of the construction project were Abraham Belay (PhD), EEP’s CEO, and Gao Lei, CGCOC Ethiopia’s General Manager. Dr. Abraham remarking that EEP is working hard to fulfill the energy needs of the country, said that the new headquarters building will help his company cut significant spending they now pay for office rent.

This new headquarter building of EEP will rest on 47,881 square meters, and will cost 2.4 billion birr. The cost will be covered by EEP itself, it was learned.
