Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) concluded agreements with domestic and foreign companies to construct 600 kilometers asphalt roads in Afar, Oromia, Amhara, and Tigray regional states. The eight road projects will cost Birr 14 billion. According to Habtamu Tegegn, the authority’s Director General, the cost will be covered by the government.
Out of the eight road projects, five were awarded to Chinese construction companies, one to Defense Construction Enterprise, and the remaining two to Yenkomada Construction and Sur Construction, Ethiopian private companies.
Ato Habatamu disclosed that the government would sign agreements for six road projects early in November, 2018.
