MTN, a South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company, said it was interested to enter into Ethiopian market following the government’s plan to privatize public enterprises. MTN stated its intention during a meeting held between Heads of MTN and President Mulatu Teshome who received the delegation yesterday, October 3.
According to the president, the objective reality of the country will be taken into account during the privatization process. The president also said the process would be held in a transparent manner.
Ethiopia recently declared that it would open up its economy for foreign investors and partially privatize different sectors including air transport, telecommunication, railway, and power generation. This decision is expected to attract foreign companies into investing in the country.
