Addis Ababa City Administration is planning creating 161,000 job opportunities, for the unemployed in 2017/18 fiscal year. Addis Saving and Credit Institution and Youth Revolving Fund jointly appropriated Birr 2.4 billion for the program.
Mikias Mulugeta, Deputy Head of Addis Ababa City Administration Mircro and Small Scale Enterprises Development, said, “A team has been established for identifying sectors, stakeholders and people with no jobs.” He said the construction and manufacturing sectors would be prioritized. Urban agriculture, trade, and services are areas which are also included in the program.
The Deputy Head stated that in order to check mal-administration in the sector, a one window service provision was started.
