Ethiopia's Telecom Company Launches Air Time Credit Service

Ethio Telecom launched Air Time Credit Service (ACS). The service allows the telecom’s customers to continue using the telecom’s services when they run out of balance or when they cannot buy vouchers because of time or money constraints.

The telecom said customers could access the ACS service by sending the letters A, L, or C to 810 via SMS and following the instructions. However, this service is only available for active customers and it is not accessible for those subscribers who were on telecom’s network for only a month and for those subscribers who consume a minimum of 30 birr of airtime per month.

The borrowed credit can be used like a usual recharge to make voice calls, purchase data of SMS bundles, and use value added services of transfer balance to another subscriber. Customers can borrow credits between Birr 5 and Birr 100. They will be charged when they recharge their balance.
