Addis Ababa University (AAU) signed a 700 million Birr project with Yotek Construction PLC to construct 12 story dormitory to be used by 2,000 students. The building is going to be built in Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH) compound.
The dormitory is said to be constructed over 13,000 square meters of land and scheduled to be completed in 24 months time.
Speaking after signing the agreement, Dawit Wondimagne, Executive Director of College of Health Sciences at AAU, said; “We had a problem with limited space”. “The new building could alleviate our problems.”
When the tender for the construction of the dormitory was floated back in May 2017, a total of 29 companies showed interest. Among these companies, 2 of them were international firms.
Yohannes Teklay, Chief Executive Officer of Yotek, on his part said: “We will finalize the project on time, as we did on the previous projects for AAU”.
In the recent past, Yotek completed the construction of Hawassa airport runway and AAU’s College of Commerce mixed-use building.
