Kombolcha Industrial Park (KIP), one of the private parks in Ethiopia built at an outlay of 90 million USD, is scheduled to start production by February 2018. The industry park was inaugurated last July.
According to Azmeraw Dejene, project coordinator at KIP, said installation of machinery as well as training employees was required prior to setting the park operational. When it goes operational, KIP would employ 20,000 employees who will work for extile and garment firms from abroad.
The park will be part of Ethiopia's efforts to have a manufacturing development belt along rail lines connecting it to neighboring Djibouti port.
KIP was built by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and it lays on 75 hectares of land
