Ethiopia’s government has issued a public bid to privatize one of the public enterprises it owns and administers, Assela Malt Factory SC. The factory that was floated by the Ministry of Public Enterprises has been supplying 75 percent of the input to 7 local breweries.

The factory’s plant is located in Assela City, Oromia State, 165 kilometers of Addis Ababa. It was only after Dashen Brewery SC built an in house plant 3 years ago that Assela Malt was not the sole malt producer in Ethiopia.

The bid floated is said to remain open till February 18, 2018.

Another enterprise floated on a public bid was 75 percent shares the government owns in Cork and Can Manufacturing SC.
