Ethiopia bagged a total of 678 million USD in the first quarter of the current fiscal year from the export different product. However, this is short of the planned 977.2 million USD, leaving the performance with 69.42 percent accomplishment rate.
Compared to the same period last year, the performance showed a 3 percent increase, Ministry of Trade noted.
According to Wondimu Filate, head of public relations and communication affair office at the Ministry, the revenue from oil seeds, tea and electric power exceeded the target set at the beginning of the year.
Nevertheless, the revenue generated from dairy products, leather and leather products, live animals, minerals and electronics materials was below the target set, Wondimu added. He further explained that, coffee generated 215 million USD, oil seeds 73.87 million USD, live animals 30.06 million USD, textile and garments 30.45 million USD, leather and leather products 33.24 USD.
The plan is to generate 4.63 USD from the export sector by the end of the current fiscal year.
