Italian Manufacturer to Build a Solar Park in Ethiopia

Enel, an Italian multinational corporation, disclosed it is intending to construct a 100 megawatt solar park in Ethiopia. The park is said to be constructed at an outlay of 120 million USD and the project is going to be in collaboration with the Ethiopian infrastructure agency, Orchid Business Group.

Commenting on the development, spokesman of the multinational manufacturer, Antonio Cammisecra, said Ethiopia had all the potential to become a key market for Enel.

Despite being the second most populous country in Africa with more than 100 million inhabitants and an average annual GDP growth of 10 percent, the country still has one of the lowest electrification rates from the continent.
