Ethio-Moroccan Business Forum was held in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, on October 16, 2017 with investors from both countries taking part in the forum.
According to the Office of Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, around 110 companies from the 2 countries took part in the event which was aimed at improving trade, investment and bilateral relations of Morocco and Ethiopia.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Bekele Gulado (Dr), Minister of Trade, called on to Moroccan investors to seize the opportunity in Ethiopia. Cheap electricity, proximity to global market and the country’s huge opportunity were presented by the Minister as what makes it preferable.
Representative of Moroccan Ministry of Trade, Investment and Industry, said Ethiopia was a strategic partner and main gateway for Morocco’s efforts to penetrate into the Easter African region. The representatives added the country’s motto were “Africa’s natural resource for Africa’s growth and prosperity”.
The Moroccan representatives also cited the fertilizer plant being constructed in Ethiopia with an outlay of 2.5 billion USD as an illustration for the need to strengthen trade and investment relations in the future.
