Ethiopia Earned 221 Million USD from Crystal Minerals

Ethiopia earned 231 million USD from the export of crystal minerals during the just ended fiscal year. This was disclosed by Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas. Out of the entire earnings, 90 percent was from the export of gold.

However, the earnings have declined when compared to the previous year. According to Walta Information Center, this was attributed to disorganized works at the woreda levels, high amount of gold delivered to the National Bank and expansion of black market.

According to Kiros Alemayehu, Senior Public Relations Officer at the Ministry, close to 6 tons of crystal minerals were exported during the period.
