Ethiopia: 900 Tons of Gold Reserve Found in Benishangul Gumuz

Ethiopian Geological Survey disclosed it has conducted a survey which showed there is more than 900 tons of gold reserve in one of Ethiopia’s state, Benishangul Gumuz State.

According to Dawit Mamo, Mineral Survey and Reserve Director at the Ethiopian Geological Survey, the reserve is found in Kemashe and Mankusha areas.

In addition to this, the Director explained, 360 million tons of coal reserve was discovered in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples State (SNNP).

The Director also explained gemstones reserves were found in Dire Dawa city while iron ore was found in Tigray state.

According to Bacha Faji, Relations and Communication Director at the Ministry, the mining activities will be undertaken by organized youth and investors.
