Ethiopia’s solo expressway company, Ethiopian Toll Road Enterprise, made a total of 145.7 million Birr during the first 9 months of the current fiscal year. The income, which was 98 percent of the Enterprise’s target, was disclosed by Ministry of Transport (MoTr) during its 9 months report to the House Peoples’ Representatives.
When presenting the report, the Ministry state it had performed well. Nevertheless, it encountered quite a number of question from the Standing Committee on Transport Affairs. The questions include excessive delay of commencement and completion of projects, absence of satisfactory maintenance services, distressing quality of constructed roads and bridges and lack of geological surveys in some constructions.
The Ministry on its part cited lack of sufficient budget as the primary drawback for its shortcomings.
