Ethiopia: Elily’s Smart Car Parking Start Operation

Elily Hotel, one of the private hotels in Ethiopia, opened its 7 story smart parking building for customers. The building, that has the capacity to park around 254 vehicles at a time, is currently giving only partial service.

According to Gemshu Beyene, owner of the 5 star hotel, the building is part of the large scale expansion of the Hotel is undertaking which will cost the hotel 800 million Birr.

The structure is said to address one of the capital city’s problems, street parking.

Elily’s smart car building will serve 3 different types of customers for whom the parking structure will issue different cards. “A monthly parking card is issued for permanent clients,” said Bizuwerk Mulugeta, information technology manager at Elilly . “Customers can extend the duration as they wish and there is no fixed price.”
Walk in customers on the other hand would be given a temporary card and they were charged 10 Birr per hour, BIrzuwerk explained.

“People who come for meetings and other events will be able to use the parking as part of their event package,” said Bizuwerk.

Currently the service is being given by cashier and other related staff aas the scanning machine is being imported and is currently at Port of Djibouti.
