Ethiopia: Kality Wastewater Treatment Plant to Go Operational by December

Expansion project Ethiopia is undertaking on Kality Wastewater Treatment Plant is said to be complete and go operational by the coming December.

Commenting on the matter, Behre Belay, deputy manager of the Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA), said the expansion would enable the plant to treat and produce 100,000 cubic meters water per day. Its current capacity is 7,000 cubic meters.

The expansion project is now being undertaken by Canadian, Belgian and Greece contractors. Upon completion it is expected to serve 1 million additional people and the city’s sewerage disposal coverage.
