Ethiopia: Addis Constructing 2 Waste Recycling Centers

2 waste recycling centers are going to be built by Addis Ababa Dry Waste Recycling Centers in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. The centers are said to enable to change dry wastes to useful products.

According to the General Manager of the project office, Ateku Legesse, the construction of the 2 centers is being undertaken in Akaki and Bole Arabesa area at a cost of 92 million Birr. The under construction centers would sort out the nature of dry waste collection in the city, he added

The new recycling centers have sanitary land fill and transfer stations which send the appropriate dry waste to Repi land fill which will use the dirt for generating electric power. The rest dry waste would stay in the 2 centers where it would be used for compost, Ateku explained.

The project office had also organized work force drawn from UK based Cambridge Industries, Ethiopian Electric Power and the project office in the aim of sorting out the types of dry waste used for different useful purposes.
