Central Statistics Agency (CSA) disclosed Ethiopia’s year-on-year inflation for the month of February reached 7 percent from 6.1 percent in January.
During the period food inflation rose to 7.8 percent from 5.0 percent in the preceding month. The report from the CSA noted there was decline in food prices of cereals except rice during the month.
Nevertheless, the prices for vegetables (especially pepper green and cabbage), pulses, potatoes and other tubers (especially kocho), and coffee increased during the month. These goods contributed for the rise in the inflation rate during the month.
However, inflation for non-food dropped to 6.2 percent from 7.4 percent in January.
