CNET Software Technologies PLC, an IT firm based in Ethiopia, is going to build an ICT center in the Ethio – ICT Village (ICT Park) in Bole Lemi Industrial Park. The center is estimated to cost 480 million Birr and it will be constructed over 8000 square meters of land in the industrial park. The scheduled period for the completion of the construction is 8 months, according to The Reporter.
Cornerstone for the construction of the center was laid by Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael, on Friday, March 3, 2017. However, construction work had started before the corner stone was laid.
Commenting on the matter CNET’s General Manager, Bemnet Demissie, said the ICT Center would include Software development center, cloud Enterprise Resource Planning data center, call center (contact center), research center and auditorium. In addition to this, the project includes the constryction of 4 buildings, Bemnet noted.
According to the general manager, the company has already started the construction of the first block with its own financial resource. CNET would provide high quality software for the local hospitality and manufacturing industries and also start exporting once the ICT center went fully operational, he added.
Appreciating CNET’s measure Debretsion said, “They are among the first companies who were registered to join the IT Park. Though everything is not available they decided to start investing the ICT-Village. We want to see many CNETs”.
“It is a knowledge based industry. You can create jobs for the youth, you can save foreign currency and export your products and generate foreign currency. We do not want you to be limited here,” he told officials of the company.
CNET was founded by 2 individuals 13 years ago. Its registered capital was 350,000 Birr, yet it now stands at 22 million Birr. Its annual turnover, on the other hand, has reached 35 million Birr.
