Ethiopia: EEU Signed MoU with 2 Chinese Companies

Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese Huawei and China Electric Power Equipment Utility. The MoU is for the construction of a better power grid for Ethiopia.

In addition to this, the 2 Chinese firms donated smart power distribution pilot project for EEU. The donation will enable to test as well verify that the system is competent in the Ethiopian context.

According to Gosaye Mengistie, CEO of EEU, the 2 year agreement would contribute towards achieving EEU’s Growth and Transformation Plan II strategic plan.

Commenting on the development, Ni Zheng, Vice President of Huawei North Africa Regional Office, said the newly to be introduced smart grid would increase revenue for EEU. It would also improve the quality of power supply to end users, he addd.

Gosaye on his part appreciated the donation by the 2 Chinese firms..
