500 investment projects with a total capital of 5.3 billion Birr were licensed in the first quarter of the current fiscal year by Amhara State, Ethiopia. Among these projects 24 of them have gone operational and they have created job opportunities for more than 2000 people.
When all the projects went operational, the investment projects would create 66,000 job opportunities, Tigist Abraham, Head of Licensing, Promotion and Information at Amhara Investment Commission, explained.
According to Tigist, the investors, in addition to other areas, would engage in manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture and construction.
In related news, 9 investment projects that were damaged and looted during the unrest in Amhara State have now commenced operation. Rehabilitating the remaining projects is being carried out, Tigist noted.
