Ethiopia developed around 2.7 million hectares of land by irrigation in the just concluded fiscal year. This was disclosed by the Ministry of Farming and Natural Resources (FNR).
According to Frenesh Mekuria, State minister for FNR, the Ministry’s plan was to develop 2.6 million hectares of land.
Frenesh also explained the country managed to harvest a total of 335 million quintals of vegetables from the irrigation.
The irrigation development had also benefited 6.7 million farmers, the Minister furthered.
