Ethiopia: Agreement for Adama Industrial Park Construction Signed

Industry Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) signed construction agreement with Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for the construction of industrial park in Adama, Ethiopia. The agreement was signed on July 10, 2016.

The construction contract is for the first phase of the Adama Industrial Park and it is expected to cost 125 million USD while construction is scheduled to commence next week.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the contractor also undertook the construction of Hawassa Industrial Park.

The contract stipulates construction of shades should be concluded within 6 months while construction of infrastructure is scheduled to be finalized in 9 months.

The Park will lay on 100 hectares of land and it is going to have 2 zones of manufacturing sheds.

According to IPDC’s CEO, Sisay Gemechu, the shades will be transferred to eligibile companies as soon as construction is completed in 9 months.

Allen Lee, General Manager of CCECC, on his part explained the industry park’s construction would be carried out with high quality and standard by taking lessons from the construction of the Hawassa Industrial Park.
