Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) disclosed in the 11 months of the past fiscal year 48 investment projects went operational all over Ethiopia. The projects have a total registered capital of 745 million Birr.

According to Getahun Negash, Public Relations Director at the Commission, the period saw 558 investment projects being licensed. Among these 445 of them are in pre-implementation stage while 55 are under implementation stage.

Getahun further noted the 48 investment projects have started production and giving services. These projects created a total of 4,444 permanent job opportunities and 2,814 temporary job opportunities, he furthered.

50 percent of the total projects licensed were engaged in the manufacturing sector, the Director explained. Most of the projects targeted the export market, he furthered.

Ethiopia has managed to attract giant international corporations to its market, Getahun noted. The leading five countries from where most investors are coming to Ethiopia are China, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
