Ethiopia: Ethio-Israeli Business Forum Opened

Ethio – Israeli Business Forum was held on July 7, 2016 in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. The Forum was opened with prime ministers of Ethiopia and Israel being present.

During the Forum, Ethiopian Investment Commissioner, Fitsum Arega, explaining to Israeli investors that took part in the Forum, said Ethiopia is the appropriate destination for them. He noted Ethiopia had 74 million hectares land suitable for agriculture and great potential in animal resource.

Speaking at the Forum Hailemariam Dessalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, said “Israel is not a new comer in investing in Ethiopia; it had been engaged in various agriculture related investments”. “We believe our two governments could do more to see strategic advances of investment in areas.”

Hailemariam also called on Israeli investors to apply their wealth and expertise in the areas of light manufacturing industry and modernizing the agriculture system. The nation adopted new strategy regarding the setting up of agro-parks in various parts of Ethiopia, the Premier furthered.

The Prime Minister also invited Israeli investors to engage in Ethiopia’s energy, ICT development and mining sectors.

Speaking on his part Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, appreciated the relationship between Ethiopia and Israel and explained the ties should not be limited to cultural and religious relations. Ethiopia’s agriculture sector was a good opportunity, he furthered.
