African Road Maintenance Fund Association to Open Office in Ethiopia

Ethiopia has signed an agreement with African Road Maintenance Fund Association (ARMFA) enabling the later to open a regional office in Addis Ababa.

ARMFA according to Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is an association established for information, experience and knowledge sharing in the management and administration of road funds between 34 member countries.

When signing the agreement Ethiopia was represented by its State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Taye Atske-Selassie (Ambassador), while the Association was represented by its Representative Rashi Mohammed.

Speaking during the event Taye welcomed the Association’s proposal to open regional office in Ethiopia’s capital. The regional office would help Ethiopia Roads Authority (ERA) in areas of experience sharing and capacity building, he furthered.

He further explained Ethiopia’s commitment to execute as well as carry out provisions of the agreement in accordance to the relevant laws of the country.

ARMFA’s Representative on his part thanked Ethiopia’s government for the expression of will and support to the prospect of establishing ARMFA's regional office in its capital.

The Association worked with an aim of creating conducive policy framework for the development of the road networks and its maintenance through suitable financing strategy, appropriate institutions, with robust monitoring and evaluation arrangements, he noted.
