Ethiopian Railway Corporation (ERC) CEO, Getachew Betru (Dr. Engineer) disclosed the Sebeta-Mieso-Dewele railway line will commence operation by September 2016. According to him the railway that will ultimately link Ethiopia with Djibouti is now 95 percent complete.

“We are close to get electricity supply and to commence operation at the beginning of Ethiopian New Year,” the CEO added.

Getachew explained upon starting service the line would boost Ethiopia’s import and export trade as well as its tourism sector.
