Ethiopia: ERA Signed Agreements Worth 5.4 Billion Birr

Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) concluded contracts worth 5.4 billion Birr for the construction of roads in different states of Ethiopia. The agreements were signed on June 1, 2016 and all the projects are going to be carried out by local construction companies.

The local firms that ERA signed the agreements with are Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, Amhara Roads Enterprise and Defense Construction Enterprise.

The total length of the roads to be constructed is 374 kilometers while the total cost will be covered by the Ethiopian government.

Speaking after signing the contracts, ERA’s Director General, Araya Girmay, said the roads would be constructed in Oromia, Tigray, Afar and Amhara states.

He added the Authority would closely follow the projects to help tackle challenges so that the projects will be completed as per the budget and schedule set on the contracts.
