Ethiopia: Chinese Investors Keen to Invest in Ethiopia

Chinese business delegation team from Hebel Province, China, disclosed its interest to invest in the agro-processing sector of Ethiopia.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the delegation team is composed of investors engaged in agriculture, industrial park, animal rearing, fruits and vegetables processing and improved animal feed improvement technology.

The delegation team held a Business-to-Business meeting with Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (AACCSA).

Members of the Chinese delegation team also expressed their wish to share their experiences by investing Ethiopia’s agriculture sector.

The investors also desire to work with Ethiopians on livestock sub-sector by introducing modern techniques, which will increase animal productivity and suitable animal feed. They also intend to work on ways to increase productivity in dairy production, cattle sheep and animal processing.

Commenting on the development, leader of the delegation team, Zhang Yu, Director-General of Hebei Provincial Department of Agriculture, noted China will work in collaboration with Ethiopia on ways to modernize agriculture. He also called for construction of infrastructure as well as creation of favorable investment environment.

Getachew Regassa, Secretary General of AACCSA, on his part said “We have been receiving several Chinese delegations. What makes this delegation unique is they focus only on agriculture”.

The Secretary General furthered local investors engaged in the agro-processing and agriculture sector would benefit from knowledge as well as technology transfer.
