5 different local companies concluded road construction agreements with Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA). The contracts are in total worth 5.6 billion Birr and the companies will be building 7 roads in Ethiopia.

The 7 roads are said to have a total length of 626 kilometers and they are part of the second Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP II).

The roads are going to be constructed in the states of Oromia, Amhara, Afar and Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples (SNNP) while the contractors of the projects are SUR Construction Plc, Defense Construction Enterprise, Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, Markan Trading Plc and Yonatan Abiye General Contractor.

Out of these construction firms Sur and Defense Construction are awarded 2 projects each.
