Ethiopia: Free Bus Transport for Teachers in Addis

Teachers in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, will be able to get free transport service from the city busses starting from May 9, 2016. The teachers will be able to get the service upon presenting identification Cards that will be given to them.

The scheme is launched after Deputy Head of Addis Ababa Education Bureau, Dagnew Gebru, signed an agreement with Tesfye Gbre, Deputy Manager of Addis Ababa Transport Bureau.

According to Fana Broadcasting Corporate, around 19,000 teachers will be to use the city buses for free following the introduction of the scheme.

The annual cost of the free service, which is projected to be 40 million Birr, will be covered by Addis Ababa City Administration.
