Ethiopia: Tigray Collected 2.6 Billion Birr

Tigray State of Ethiopia disclosed it collected 2.6 billion Birr in the first 9 months of the current fiscal year. The money was collected from tax and non-tax revenues.

Shewit hagos, Senior Revenue Expert at the State’s Revenue Development Authority, explained the Authority managed to collect 2.6 billion which is higher than the target it set.

Comparing the achievement to the previous year’s performance, there is 26.6 percent increase, Shewit explained.

The achievements are partly the result of regional economic growth and good governance initiatives launched by the State administration, the Senior Revenue Expert added. In addition to this training aimed at filling employees’ revenue collection gaps played its part, she added.

According to Walta Information Center, the State’s plan is to collect over 3.2 billion Birr during the current fiscal year.
