Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority (ERCA) presented to House of Peoples’ Representative it collected 110.2 billion Birr in the first 9 months of the current fiscal year.
The report explained the Authority’s target was 122.32 billion Birr for the said period.
According to Abraham Nigussie, Acting Director General of ERCA, 94.8 billion Birr was collected by the Authority while its counterpart in Addis Ababa collected 15.4 billion Birr.
The Authority’s performance shows an 11 percent increment when compared to the same period in the previous year. Nonetheless, the collected amount still falls behind the target.
54 percent of the collected money was generated from domestic tax and the rest 46 percent is attributable to tax bases of foreign trade and lottery profit, Abraham explained.
The report presented to the members of the legislature shows measures were taken against 109 organizations and 177 individuals accused of working illegally in February and March.
