Ethiopia’s flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is building Africa’s largest Chinese restaurant in Addis Ababa City.
Commenting on the matter, Tewolde Gebremariam, Ethiopian Airlines’ CEO, said the Chinese restaurant was going to be incorporated in the 4 star hotel the Airline is building near its headquarters. Tewolde added, “We are building a four-star hotel very near to our main hub in Addis Ababa. The hotel will have 330 rooms and the largest Chinese restaurant in Africa. We want to make our hub convenient for Chinese travelers.”
The restaurant is said to be run by Chinese management and it will also have a Chinese senior chefs and waiters.
The hotel is being constructed on 40,000 square meters and it is expected to have 300 rooms, gymnasium, restaurants and bars, as well as other facilities. The construction is being carried out by a Chinese aviation and construction company dubbed AVIC. It is scheduled the construction will be complete in 24 months.
In the aim of making airline convenient for its Chinese customers, it has set up signs in Chinese language at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. It also has Chinese help desk at the airport where a Chinese personnel assists Chinese travelers arriving and transiting at the airport. According to Tewolde, the airline also has Chinese cabin crews.
The airline has 28 weekly flights to 4 destinations in China, Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.
