Wolqait Sugar Factory in Ethiopia to Get Full Power in April

eepco-logoEthiopian Electric Power (EEP) announced that the installation of power distribution and transmission lines for the Wolqait Sugar Factory in Tigray Regional State will be completed in April 2016.

Misikir Negash, Foreign Relations Director at EEP, said 70 percent of the project is completed and installation of dual 230 kilo volt heavy duty power cables is being expedited.

Misikir told Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) the project, which has 75 power towers, is being undertaken by Ethiopians.

In addition to supplying power to Wolqait Sugar factory, the project is expected to supply power to locals, according to Misikir. He also noted temporary jobs for 200 citizens have been created.

The project is being undertaken by the government of Ethiopia at a cost of 37 million Birr.
