WB Funds Construction of Six Pedestrians Overpasses in Ethiopia’s Capital

AACRAWorld Bank (WB) has released fund for the construction of six pedestrians’ overpasses in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, according to the city’s road authority.

Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) said the pedestrian overcrossings are going to be constructed in different sites across the city, including over ring roads.

With a vision to support endeavors on the improvement of transport sector in Addis Ababa; the World Bank is setting up a project office.

According to Engineer Fekade Haile, General Manager of the Authority, WB has allocated USD 155 million to improve the transport sector in Addis Ababa.

He noted that AACRA will give priority to the construction of pedestrian overcrossings and other road traffic easing infrastructures through the new WB initiative.

Among the heavy traffic points where overpasses will be constructed are Imperial, Jemo, Sost Kutir Mazoria, Michael, Yosef and Abo square, Engineer Fekade said.
