Minister of Information and Communication Technology of Ethiopia, Debretsion Gebremichael exhorted Japanese companies to invest in Ethiopia’s ICT industry, Ethiopian News Agency reported.

The Minister encouraged Japanese tech companies to increase their investment in Ethiopia while attending the 13th International Telecommunication Symposium in Hiroshima, Japan.

He told the meeting about efforts of Ethiopian government on the expansion of ICT infrastructures and how it is using it for the development.

Debretsion held a discussion with high level government officials and leaders of companies which supply IT services and products like NEC Corporation and Toshiba Corporation, among others. He told them about the investment atmosphere and the developments of IT parks in Ethiopia.

Japanese companies would be profitable if they tend to invest in the manufacturing industries, energy development and telecommunication sectors, he pointed out.
