Omo-Kuraz I sugar plant, one of Ethiopia’s big sugar development project has begun trial of machinery run, Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) reported.
Omo-Kuraz I sugar plant is found in SNNP Regional State of Ethiopia.
According to Ethiopian Sugar Corporation, Omo-Kuraz I sugar plant is nearing completion. Lieutenant Colonel Yohannes Tikeso, Manager of the project, told FBC that currently 95 percent of Omo-Kuraz I sugar plant is completed.
The sugar development project will have a total area of 175,000 hectares of land for its sugarcane cultivation.
Omo-Kuraz I plant is expected to generate 45MW electric power for its regular consumption from by-products.
Upon completion, the plant will produce 300,000 tons of sugar per year.
Five sugar factories will be constructed under Omo-Kuraz sugar development project.
