The third Addis Agro-Food Exhibition kicked off on November 27, 2015, at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center, Ethiopian Herald reported.
The State Industry Minister Dr. Alemu Sime, at the opening of the exhibition said: “Our long-term vision is to make Ethiopia the leading country in light manufacturing industry in Africa and also achieve middle income status by 2025.”
He said Ethiopia has planned to raise the manufacturing sector’s growth from 14.6 percent to 24 percent and its share of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from 4.8 percent to eight percent by the end of GTP II period.
The Minister also noted that Ethiopia is becoming more suitable for both local and foreign investors as a result of its strategic location, easily trainable youth, political stability and economic development.
In addition, the government of Ethiopia has committed itself to creating conducive investment environment for the private sector, he said.
Turkish Embassy Commercial counselor to Ethiopia Zulfikar Kilic; “In this 3rd Addis Agro-Food exhibition 29 Turkish companies have participated to explore Ethiopian market, create contact with Ethiopian businessmen.”
Some 50 local and international companies are participating in the four-day exhibition.
Agro-food and agricultural processing is one of the most promising sectors in Ethiopia.
