Ethiopian Airlines announced plans to order at least ten Airbus A350-900 aircraft in the coming two years in addition to the 14 already ordered, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines said on Wednesday November 11, 2015.
Tewolde Gebremariam told Reuters, "This fleet (of Airbus A350-900), as a core fleet in our network, is going to grow."
"We haven't been able to quantify the right numbers but definitely we are going to order more. At least more than 10," said the CEO.
Ethiopian Airlines expects to receive one A350-900 jet in May from the 14 that were scheduled for delivery in 20156-18, despite the date might be brought forward to 2016-17, with talks currently taking place.
International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global industry body ranked Ethiopian the largest in Africa by revenue and profit.
Ethiopian currently has 77 planes, together with 13 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. It has ordered for 50 aircrafts, including six more Dreamlliners.
