The Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MoCT) disclosed on November 06, 2015, the classification of 68 hotels in Addis Ababa, according to Fana Broadcasting Corporate.
Only 95 have met the evaluation criteria and became eligible for the rating from 123 hotels.
The Ministry has issued star ratings for 68 hotels from the 95 hotels, as they met the necessary conditions.
Sheraton Addis, Elilly, Capital Hotel and Spa and Radisson Blu hotels have been rated with five stars.
The Ministry has awarded four stars to Intercontinental-Addis, Harmony, Dreamliner, Jupiter (kazanchis), Saro-Maria, Debredamo, Nathera, Friendship, Nexus, Washington, Sarem International, Jupiter (Bole) and Tegen Guest Accommodation hotels.
Three stars have been awarded to 25 hotels and two 19 hotels got two star ratings. Seven hotels have received one star rating.
The remaining 27 hotels are unfit to receive the star ratings, the Ministry noted.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MoCT) in association with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) have launched classifying hotels in January.
