Salini, the Italian construction company, announced that it has completed placing roller compacted concrete (RCC) at the Ethiopian grand power generation project, Gibe III.

Salini said placement of the RCC on the total volume of the dam which is 6.2 million m3 has been undertaken.

Gibe III is the second largest hydroelectric power generation projects of Ethiopia, after the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) with an installed capacity of 1,870 MW.

Gibe III power plant is found in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Regional State of Ethiopia. The project was launched in 2007.

The dam will have the capacity to reserve 14 billion cubic meter of water.

Gibe III power plant has started partial power generation in October 2015.
