Ericsson to Deliver 3G Network Project in Ethiopia by End of 2015

Ericsson, Swedish telecom giant, is expected to deliver most of the 3G networking project it has been installing for last ten month in southern part of Ethiopia by the end of 2015, according to The Reporter.

CEO of Ethio Telecom Andualem Admassie told The Reporter Ericsson is expected to handover by the end of December, 2015, the three circles project that was awarded to develop when ZTE fails to deliver.

Rafiah Ibrahim, President and Head of the Middle East and North Africa Region at Ericsson told The Reporter that Ericsson will deliver the projects by the time frame provided by Ethio Telecom. And there are some sites in the regions that the company has delivered to Ethio Telecom.

Network disruption issues will be resolved following the delivery of all the sites, yet the entire network presupposes how Ethio Telecom launches the finalized projects, Rafiah stated.

Ericsson established its relationship with Ethiopia 120 years ago when the first Ericsson made equipment was used to connect calls from Addis Ababa to Djibouti, Rafiah reminded. In addition, Ericsson has installed the first national telecom infrastructure in Ethiopia.
