Ethiopia, WB Sign Two Loan Agreements

world-bank-logoEthiopia and the World Bank (WB) had signed two loan agreements on October 22, 2015, worth USDs 600 and 5.1 million, according to Ethiopian News Agency.

Ahmed Shide, State Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation (MoFEC), and Qaiser Khan, Acting Country Director for Ethiopia, had signed the loan agreements.

The 600 USD million is aimed at enhancing equitable access to basic services in education, health, agriculture, water supply, sanitation and rural roads in woredas and boost accountability systems at decentralized level.

Except Addis Ababa, the program is for the entire country.

According to MoFEC, the USD 5.1 million is for Tana and Beles Integrated Water Resources Development Project. The project is now in short of finance, thus the loan agreement will close the financial gap.
